Guard -

Lynne joined the Auxiliary in 2016 under the eligibility of her father, Warner E. Desmarais, a US Army Veteran.  He served honorably in the Korean War, was stationed in Korea for two years during combat and achieved the rank of Sargeant. Lynne is the granddaughter of Edward (Ned) Butt and Raymond F. Kirwin, both recipients of the Purple Heart.

She is a life member of the VFW Auxiliary to Townsend Post No. 6538. On the local level she has served as Guard, Conductor and Senior Vice President as well as Trustee. In District 15, she has served as Conductor and Patriotic Instructor and is the Junior Vice President and a Trustee.  She was the Assistant Guard for the Department during 2022-2023.  She took on the Department Chairmanship of Historian and Media Relations during the 2024-2025 year.  Lynne is the Department Guard and Legislative Chairman for the 2025-2026 year.  She has a life membership and Centennial membership to the VFW National Home.

 Lynne has been very active in her community and the school system. She served as President of the PTO for many years. She was a member of the Townsend Recreation Commission and presently serves on the Amanda E. Dwight Entertainment Fund Committee for the town.

Lynne was raised in Danvers, MA and graduated from Danvers High School in 1974 where she had been a National Honor Society student.  She furthered her education and earned a degree in Radiological Technology in 1976, Nuclear Medicine in 1978 and finally Radiation Oncology as a Therapist in 1994. She retired in 2019 after 16 years of employment at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center in Fitchburg, MA as a Radiation Therapist.

 Lynne and her husband, Larry have been married for 37 years and have 1 daughter, who is also a  member of the VFW Auxiliary to Townsend Post No. 6538. They are blessed with a granddaughter, whom they adore.

 She is committed to helping our Veterans, their families, and the community through her involvement in the VFW Auxiliary on the local and state levels.
