Mary Christian

Mary Christian joined the Oxford Auxiliary 5663 in October 1968 under the eligibility of her brother Russell T. Christian, USMC. She served through the chairs of that Auxiliary including holding the office of President and numerous chairmanships. When the Oxford Auxiliary disbanded, Mary transferred to the Charles F. Minney VFW Auxiliary 3329 in Millbury. Again, she served through the chairs of Auxiliary 3329 including holding the office of President and numerous chairmanships. Mary is currently a member of the Sgt. Harold O. Young Auxiliary 2394, Melrose in District 18.

On the District level, Mary has served through the chairs including holding the office of District 8 President multiple times. She was also a member of the District 8 Color Guard and held numerous chairmanships for District 8. 

On the Department level, Mary has served as Patriotic Instructor, Color Bearer, and Chairman for Americanism, Legislative, Buddy Poppy/National Home, and Finance. She was also a member of the Department Color Guard for a time. 

Mary currently works as the Manager for Meals on Wheels at the West Brookfield Senior Center. She is the proud mother of two children, a son Russell and a daughter Stephanie and two grandchildren Nathan and Ashley. In her spare time, Mary likes to crochet, paint, sew, play cards, bake, and do crossword puzzles. She also volunteers as a driver for meals on wheels, teaches bible study, and sings in a choir. One of her proudest accomplishments was that she was the State Winner for the Voice of Democracy Program while attending Oxford High School.
